Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 championships at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
